The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum also met with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Jeffrey Pyatt and the US Assistant Secretary of Energy in the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Brad Crabtree to discuss cooperation in the field of energy transition and reducing emissions in the oil and gas industry, within the strategic partnership between the two countries, according to what was seen by the specialized energy platform. .

Egyptian Minister of Petroleum, Eng. Tarek El-Molla, said that his country continues to implement energy transformation initiatives and programs in the oil and gas industry on the ground, which were previously announced during the organization of the COP 27 climate summit, according to what was seen by the specialized energy platform.
During the meeting, Tariq Al-Mulla reviewed the growing regional role of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum, as a model for achieving optimal exploitation of gas resources in the region, thus contributing to securing supplies and working at the same time to achieve sustainability, through his initiative to decarbonize natural gas, which was praised by the American side. .
In the same context, Al-Mulla met with the head of the British oil company “BP” Bernard Looney, as they discussed the company’s projects and investment plans in Egypt, in the field of oil and gas exploration, with the aim of increasing production.
Looney said that the British oil company BP is interested in strengthening the strategic partnership with the Egyptian oil sector, by pumping more investments into research and exploration activities, stressing that Cairo has created a unique experience in developing the energy sector and strengthening its infrastructure to attract investors and major companies.
Cooperation with international companies
The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum, Engineer Tarek El-Molla, met with the Chief Operating Officer of the Natural Resources Sector in the Italian company Eni, Guido Prosco. They discussed joint efforts to accelerate the implementation of development and production plans for crude oil and gas fields and discoveries, to take advantage of high global prices and secure local needs.
Al-Mulla also met a delegation from the Emirati company, “ADNOC”, which includes the CEO of the low-carbon solutions sector and international growth, Musabbah Al-Kaabi, and the Deputy CEO of ADNOC International, Muhammad Al-Aryani, and they affirmed their interest in developing business and investments in Egypt, especially with promising opportunities in the oil and gas sector. .
In addition, the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum discussed with Dr. Pratima Rangarajan, CEO of the Climate Initiative in the field of oil and gas “Investing in Climate,” ways to benefit from the initiative’s activities, including energy efficiency, decarbonization of gas, and reduction of methane emissions.
Rangarajan said that the initiative is ready to cooperate and transfer its new technologies to Egypt, while the minister welcomed the activities offered by the initiative to support the oil and gas industry, referring to the arrangement for a meeting between the initiative officials and specialists in the sector to discuss the technical aspects and how to make the best use of these technologies.
Al-Mulla held a meeting with the President of Schneider Electric for the Middle East and Africa, Casper Herzberg, during which he reviewed ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of digital transformation in the oil and gas industry, especially since Schneider Electric is currently participating in implementing the Egyptian oil sector’s plans for digital transformation.
Meeting “Energy in Egypt”
On the other hand, the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum, Eng. Tarek El-Molla, participated in the ninth annual energy meeting in Egypt, which was organized by the Arab-American Chamber of Commerce in Houston, in partnership with the American Apache Company, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum, Osama Mubarez.
Minister Tariq Al-Mulla reviewed Egypt’s current role as a regional center for energy trade and circulation, and its contribution to achieving an aspect of the security of supplies at the regional level, as well as its openness to cooperation with countries and international companies, through many partnerships, foremost of which is the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum.
