The new cut comes at a time when global oil prices are witnessing a significant decline, as Brent crude recorded its lowest level in two months this week, with it falling to the barrier of $73 a barrel, according to a statement seen by the specialized energy platform.
Today, Wednesday, May 31 (2023), the Petroleum Derivatives Pricing Committee announced the prices of gasoline in Jordan for the month of June 2023, and other oil derivatives, which are expected to be implemented starting tomorrow, Thursday, June 1.

The Petroleum Derivatives Pricing Committee decided to reduce the prices of gasoline in Jordan for the month of June 2023, with values ranging between 45 and 50 fils for gasoline of all kinds, while reducing the price of “diesel” by about 40 fils.
The prices of gasoline in Jordan for the next month of June 2023, and other oil derivatives, which are scheduled to be implemented at the beginning of the new month, are as follows:
- Reducing the price of a liter of 90 octane petrol from 950 fils to 900 fils.
- Reducing the price of a liter of 95 octane petrol from 1,185 fils to 1,140 fils.
- Reducing the price of a liter of “diesel” diesel from 755 fils to 715 fils.
- Fixing the price of kerosene at 620 fils.
- Fixing the price of a domestic gas cylinder (liquefied petroleum gas) at 7 dinars.
(1000 fils = Jordanian dinars = 1.41 US dollars).
The reduction of gasoline prices in Jordan for the month of June 2023 comes as part of the government’s efforts to ease the burdens on citizens, in light of King Abdullah II’s assignment to the government, at the beginning of this year, to freeze the kerosene tax, as it is the most consumed fuel in the Kingdom during the winter.

The Petroleum Derivatives Pricing Committee in Jordan held its meeting to set prices between June 1 and June 30. It reviewed global oil and derivatives prices, and announced new prices after applying the price equation according to this study.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission in Jordan, Ziyad Sa’aidah, said that the Commission’s Board of Commissioners approved setting the value of the tariff for the fuel price difference item in the electricity bill for the month of June at a value of “zero”, which is the value of the current month of May itself. .
The new reduction in gasoline prices in Jordan is the fifth of its kind during the current year 2023, as it coincides with a clear decline in global oil prices, which threw the benchmark Brent crude around $73 a barrel, which is the decline that has been going on since the beginning of last April.
Experts had expected last May to witness a decrease in fuel prices in Jordan, but the kingdom violated expectations and added an increase ranging between 5 and 10 fils to the prices of all kinds of gasoline, according to what was monitored by the specialized energy platform.
Fuel prices in Jordan faced a crisis during the past year 2022, with the escalation of the war in Ukraine, which cast a dark shadow on the global oil derivatives market, especially since the Kingdom imports 90% of its oil product needs from abroad.
