Aiming to boost Kuwait’s oil production to 3 million barrels per day by 2025, up from 2.8 million barrels per day now, the Gulf state’s oil sector is preparing bids worth more than $700 million.
Today, Sunday, June 18 (2023), the CEO of the Kuwait Oil Company, Ahmed Jaber Al-Aidan, announced his country’s commitment to the cuts decided by OPEC and the OPEC + alliance, according to statements reported by Reuters, and seen by the specialized energy platform.
At the same time, the oil sector is preparing to implement a huge package of projects, within the framework of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s strategy for the year 2040, as the sector’s companies continue to settle many tenders, whether by awarding it to the Central Agency for Public Tenders, or accelerating the issuance and receiving of bids.
Oil sector tenders in Kuwait
The Kuwait Oil Company is currently finalizing the awarding of 10 tenders, with a total value exceeding 210 million Kuwaiti dinars (700 million US dollars), in cooperation with the Central Agency for Public Tenders, according to the local newspaper, Al-Anbaa.
This comes in support of plans to increase oil production in Kuwait over the next few years, to support the revenues of the state budget.
The company requested the continuation of the seventh extension of the contract for the provision of maintenance services for production facilities in the southern regions of Kuwait, at an additional cost to the contract value amounting to 7.4 million dinars ($ 24.2 million), provided that the first 6 months are continuous, and the following 6 months are month by month, starting from August. Next August 2023.
Sources indicated that this request will continue until the completion of the procedures for awarding the alternative contract tender, which the Central Agency for Tenders decided to postpone a decision on until the time for stating the reasons for the increase and responding to its observations, according to information monitored by the specialized energy platform.
The second contract relates to support services for the maintenance of export facilities, which KOC requested to be awarded to a company at a value of 44.59 million dinars ($145.7 million), rebalancing prices with the company recommended for awarding, and permission from the central apparatus of the company to make an valuation budget, and to provide it with the recommendation.
The company also requested the awarding of a tender for the construction of oil flow pipelines in the north of the country, to a company that won the lowest prices in accordance with its offer of conditions and specifications, and the “tenders” agency approved the award, after completing the deficiencies and making an estimation budget.
The Kuwait Oil Company addressed the Tenders Authority to award a tender to replace the smokeless burners with the current high-pressure and low-pressure smoke flare in a number of assembly centers in the north of the country, at the second lowest price, at 11.5 million dinars, after completion.
Thermal testing and manpower saving
The Kuwait Oil Company requested the award of a tender for thermal testing facilities, in the north and south of the country, at the lowest prices that conform to the conditions and specifications, at about 21.98 million dinars (71.8 million dollars), as the agency agreed to award.
The central apparatus authorized the company to make an appraisal budget with the lowest price bids, and to provide it with a recommendation regarding a tender for the provision of manpower to support health care in Al-Ahmadi Hospital, after the company requested that it be awarded at the lowest prices that conform to the conditions and specifications.
At the same time, the company addressed the agency regarding awarding a tender for the operation and maintenance of chemical storage and handling facilities, operational laboratories, and waste water disposal stations in the company’s regions and a maintenance station (Wara) in the south and east of the country, to a company that won the lowest prices by about 19.6 million dinars (64 million dinars). dollar).
It also requested the awarding of a tender to raise the efficiency of water management facilities to a company that won the lowest prices by about 18.38 million dinars ($60 million).
It is noteworthy that the Kuwait Oil Company aims to raise the production capacity of crude oil, to reach the strategic goal estimated at 3.650 million barrels per day, and 950 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.
